3000+ books sold :) !

In the 1st 3 months we've sold 3000 copies of our book! And just this week we've managed to sell 406 copies!!! We got 2 big orders. So it's 3406 books right now. Thank you all for buying our book and for giving it away as present to friends & family!

I just got back from 2 weeks in Curaçao and we made plans for a new book and another very cool project. We are also working on a birthday calendar and postcards, I'll post a sneak peak soon.

On Monday I drove to the depot of "Centraal Boekhuis" to deliver the books. Kristel is working hard to get everthing in place with Amazon.com, we will let you know when the book can be ordered in the US.

Curaçao travelguide printed and now on its way to Dutch, Curaçao & US bookstores!!!

I can't really describe what I felt when I held the first copy of the book in my hands...WOW such an exciting moment. To hold the actual book.

We were suppost to get the fist copy of the book on Tuesday, but the binder hadn't finished in time so they transported it directly to the harbor a day later. So no book on Tuesday.

It was in the warehouse in Rotterdam the next day that I saw the first copy.

My sweet friend Muriel went with me to the harbor to drop off the Art for the Exhibition in Curaçao (she's got a statoin wagon, I was afraid it would not fit in my car). At the warehouse there were all these boxes with our books (7 pallets in total).

The guy got a box of the pallet and gave it to me. Off course I couldn't get the tape off... and he helped me with it. Then I opened the box and saw all these books ahhhh sooo cool, I guess the pictures tells enough.

I had to put the book back in the box and the box back on the pallet, otherwise the inventory list of the shipper would not be correct. That was a hard moment. But I new that I would have my own copy very soooon.

Today they will put the pallets in a container and then ship it to the other side of the world...On board of one of the big ships as I point out on the picture below. There is actually a chapter in the book about a tour in the Curaçao harbor, the place where the books will arrive!

Yesterday I went to the printer to pick up the books that stay in Holland for the sales here. And I finally got my own copy. Kris still has to wait another day, since her copy of the book is shipped by expess to Curaçao. She was suppost to be here to receive our first copy together, but couldn't come :-(. We will celebrate it together whith the book launch in Curaçao beginning of November.

As you can see we made a few changes to the site. You can now join our mailing list and read more about our sponsors, Divas Publishing, Inc. etc.

We get a lot of email & questions about where and when people can buy the book. We are still working out some last details and keep you posted when it will be for sale online & in the bookstores!

From a dream to a Curaçao travel guide | Divas Publishing, Inc.

September 11th we started printing at Chevallier in the Netherlands. I went to take pictures of the printing of the cover and back yesterday. You can see the pictures here below!

And here the paper comes out on the other side. They were so kind to open up the machine so I could take a better picture :-)

Here you see the pallets with the inside of the book. They printed 24/7 during the weekend.

Fun to imagine how these immense piles of paper are going to turn into proper books :-)

Love how the color of the images turned out. They printed it with special pigments ink and raster. The amount of detail you can see in each picture is truly amazing.

The order of the pages is all strange now. That will be resolved when the pages are trimmed & folded into sections and then sewn & bind together. Impressive to imagine how they physically assemble a book from these huge piles of paper.

The pages are printed double sides and don't you love all the colors? We do!!!

It made us sooooooo happy to see how everything turned out!!!!! (read BIG GRIN on our face & and HAPPY SPARKLING eyes)

It is amazing to see our dream, that we've been working on for the last couple of months, turn into reality. From idea to digital images in the camera, from words into coherent text, to layout on the computer screen to print on paper. :-D

The next steps will be the laminating of the cover, then the UV coating to the front& back cover images. The binding of the book and adding the cover & back. We can't wait to see and hold the 1st finished edition in our hands :-)
